Mike Batt - My Life In Song at The Crazy Coqs
An evening of intimate chat and songs from one of the world’s greatest songwriters, Mike Batt.
My Life In Song takes us through some of the songs that shaped his life. A fascinating insight into both the art of songwriting and the stories behind the songs.
Mike Batt is one of Britain’s most successful songwriters/arrangers and record producers. He started out as the creator, singer and writer of all eight of The Wombles’ hits, and went on to write Bright Eyes for Art Garfunkel. He has written and produced multiple pop and classical hits for Vanessa Mae, Cliff Richard, Steeleye Span and many others.
Mike has conducted many of the world’s great orchestras including the LSO, LPO, RPO, Sydney Symphony and the Berlin Opera Orchestra. He has won five Ivor Novello Awards (the UK’s songwriting ‘Oscars’). He discovered Katie Melua, for whom he has written many songs including The Closest Thing To Crazy and Nine Million Bicycles.
Mike’s Dramatico record label has grown to become one of the leading independent record labels in Europe, and he is now developing The Wombles for a new TV series and feature film, amongst other multimedia projects.
