Book reading by Neil Matthews on Alderney

Author Neil Matthews will be reading extracts from his new book Journeys From Wimbledon Common, which includes a chapter on Alderney and an interview with Wombles creator Elisabeth Beresford, who made the island her home.

The reading is at the Orangery of the Georgian House Hotel in Victoria Street, St Anne, at 3.30pm on Saturday 18 August.

Neil says on his blog: “The people of Alderney really took Elisabeth Beresford and the Wombles to their hearts, so I’m hoping plenty of them will come to listen - and to meet the Wombles as well, of course.

“If you’re on Alderney this Saturday afternoon, pop into the Georgian and re-acquaint yourself with some famous fictional furry creatures.”
