Wombles benches installed on Wimbledon Piazza

Three Wombles benches have been temporarily installed on the Piazza in Wimbledon town centre (in front of the Odeon cinema).

Great Uncle Bulgaria, Alderney and Orinoco are two-dimensional statues acting as a backrest in the middle of large blocks, so you can sit down with them and take a selfie.

The benches are a partnership between The Wombles, Love Wimbledon Business Improvement District and Wimbledon BookFest, for Sustainable September. They’ll be on the Piazza until at least the middle of November.

Meanwhile, a new series of books that focus on the environment will be launched at Wimbledon BookFest in October, with plans for Wombles storytelling and workshops for children, though details of the events are yet to be announced.
