Orinoco Womble conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra

Orinoco Womble was a special guest conductor for a performance of The Wombling Song by the BBC Concert Orchestra.

The recording for BBC Radio 2’s weekly Friday Night Is Music Night show was part of a gala concert celebrating great bedtime reads, to mark the final of this year’s 500 Words children’s story-writing competition.

The two-hour concert was recorded at the Hackney Empire and presented by Blue Peter’s Barney Harwood. It will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on Friday 29 May 2015 at 8pm.

The BBC Concert Orchestra performs scores from films, musicals and ballets including Peter Pan, Warhorse, The Lord Of The Rings, Thomas The Tank Engine, Shrek, Paddington Bear, Harry Potter, To Kill A Mockingbird, and of course The Wombles.
